Waypoint Office: wood and glass for an evocative workspace

In Toronto, on the top floor of a six-story building with a panoramic view of the bustling heart of the metropolis, the JCI studio creates the interior design of an important office spanning 5000 square meters where the main features are: the warmth and elegance of white oak.

Presidential Office

The JCI studio carries out a unique work among the interior design projects of offices in Toronto: an office located on the top of the six floors of a building with a panoramic view of the bustling heart of the metropolis, where the focal point is the clock tower of the historic station.

Glass creating spaces

This is a space designed to provide a variety of work areas, ranging from open-concept collaborative spaces to private offices, meeting rooms, lounges, and dining areas. The glass partition walls are framed in black and clearly delineate the public and private spaces, easily guiding the visitor in the right direction.

Wood dominant material

The curved edges in wood ensure a smooth transition from the entrance and reception to the various spaces. The careful use of texture on the different wall elements provides an intimate scale of depth, light, and shadow. A wooden wall, articulated in the reception area, creates a surprising visual contrast with the glass partition wall next to it.

Lights and White

A mosaic of black tiles installed on the inner curve of a wall provides a sparkling effect in a continuous play of light and shadow, depending on how natural light changes. The use of walls and floors in natural white oak, combined with a white exposed concrete ceiling and suspended lighting fixtures, create an airy and light-filled environment.

Open Space

Spaces, predominantly open in concept, are softly delineated by suspended circular lights, creating nodes for congregation without the limitations of fencing. The lightness and transparency of the design are further reinforced in the axis of private offices along the main corridor through a series of perpendicular connecting glass walls.

Spaces that seem to expand

A transparency that visually extends the space of the corridor and allows lightness and continuity even in the narrowest and most enclosed moments of the floor plan.
