YOD STRUCTURE. Experience between architecture and contemporary art

The YOD STRUCTURE is an architectural module designed for the exhibition dedicated to the contemporary artist Carole Benzaken, hosted at the art center "Carré Sainte-Anne" in Montpellier

An architectural container for "Saviv saviv"

The "Carré Sainte-Anne" in Montpellier is a striking contemporary art center located inside a deconsecrated neo-Gothic church. Within this rich setting, unusual for interior design projects, the pure volume of the YOD STRUCTURE, designed by the architecture firm SCHEMAA in collaboration with the artist, serves as a container for the latter's work "Saviv saviv": a collection of drawings embedded in backlit metal tanks

Intersection of architecture and contemporary art

The close collaboration between architects and artists has resulted in the YOD STRUCTURE being a crossroads between architecture and contemporary art. A project that unfolded primarily through the creation of models, it has produced a dynamic exterior volume with angles and curves that capture the visitor's attention and lead them to discover its interior

YOD in plasterboard

The budget allocated for the YOD STRUCTURE project was limited, so SCHEMAA chose to implement it using painted plasterboard walls to stay within budget. The module's name comes from the observation of Carole Benzaken, who, upon looking at the structure, noticed its resemblance to the eleventh letter of the Hebrew alphabet, YOD
