The first image of the shelter is reflected in the tension between radical geometry and organic forms present in the forest: the desire of Estudio Diagonal was not to interfere, but rather to enhance and value the natural beauty
Between the radical geometry and formal natural design: Refuge 3x3
The need to seek rest in the forest while disconnecting from work allows Estudio Diagonal to design a 3x3 Refuge immersed in the beauty of nature

The project is housed in the rainforest near the Chilean city of La Unión, in the south of the country, in a place that privileges the view of the sunlight and the sound of the creek. The terrace has the same footprint as the lodge, and gives the sense of space between inside and outside
The second floor serves as the kitchen, dining room and living room and, thanks to the double-height front window, it is possible to spend rainy winter days in this space while observing the outside
The upper floor serves as a bedroom and bathroom, which is accessed via a staircase. The dimensions of the shelter are 3x3 meters, with a height of 2.4 meters and 4.8 for the double-height unit. Pre-sized pine wood is the main material of the project, which was put in place by local labor.
