The property is a combination of an existing house and a small adjoining residential building connected to the house by one room per floor, the work of the previous owners who had attached a two-storey apartment in the neighboring building and later, following the purchase of the house next door had combined the two buildings to create a larger house

This situation resulted in a house in which there was a linear sequence of rooms that since they were pass-through, did not allow any privacy and resulted in a non-functional distribution pattern. The resolution of this situation is one of the priorities of the project of OVERCODE architecture urbanisme, together with the design of the roof terrace
OVERCODE architecture urbanisme rationalizes the vertical circulation of the house by introducing a large spiral staircase right in the middle: this makes it possible to minimize the circulation and optimize the spaces of the house obtaining a larger kitchen, 4 independent rooms and the roof terrace with a family-room
The flat roof that is created provides space for the terrace and the glass volume of the new staircase that emerges from the roof allowing light to enter deep into the house while letting the rhythm of the seasons blend with the atmosphere of the interior spaces.
The new project was made entirely of wood to make it as light as possible. At the request of the municipality of Paris, the sloping roof is transformed into a garden-roof with a rainwater recovery system for irrigation
