The design of the wooden house, by Portuguese architecture studio RA+TR arquitectos is surrounded by large existing trees, so close they can almost touch them and they enjoy the sea breeze and the view of the sea in the distance

The initial objective was to build a wooden tree house with a view of the sea. After the first inspection, it became clear that the trees were not big enough for a design with an open-plan living room and kitchen, a bathroom and a sleeping area

In the end, they opted for the design of a house located close to the treetops, with a mixed solid structure of concrete, steel and wood to resist the strong winds from the sea, although wood is the dominant element in general

The structural wood is pine, the external cladding is marine plywood, the floor is pine, and the interior cladding is birch plywood. The windows and doors are made of spruce. The walls are insulated with agglomerated cork
