Resuming from where everything had stopped, with the awareness of first putting together the ideas and then making them operational, deliberately maintaining a simple style, almost monastic, in line with continuity of that sacred mountain of which at the sight alone, you can experience all the charm
The building is located in a small hilly village, surrounded by greenery that slopes towards Lake Orta. In this context it was virtually inevitable to restore the building and remove all those parts that had been added over time, distorting the building itself and its history
The strength of the project is based on two main cornerstones: the view of Lake Orta and its Sacred Mount and the courtyard of the building itself, which creates an intimate and captivating environment, especially thanks to the presence of a large fig tree that makes the space harmonious and elegant, with a simple elegance
The choice of the restoration materials are wood and stone which are in keeping with the building's past: the walls have been plastered with Brenta lime in order to make the interior atmosphere smoother and more varied. All the dissonant elements have been removed and the parts concealed by renovations that did not respect the building's past have been rediscovered. In this quest for the building's historical heritage, parts made of stone masonry have been recovered
The designers remove the ceramic floors and replaced them with wooden floors with antique oak planks and doors and windows, creating the new ones, all made of wood with the same shape and type as those present in the Lake Orta area
The restoration of the spaces has resulted in the insertion of a new bathroom linked to the master bedroom in addition to the existing one and the coatings of the bathrooms were made of concrete tiles with shades of gray and an interplay of geometric figures
All the rooms overlook the courtyard and the fig tree. The courtyard has been partly paved in a rectangle-shaped beola and under the old fig tree there is a stone table resting on an iron structure
Here you can enjoy a beautiful view of Lake Orta and the interior and exterior of the building are in constant harmony thanks to the large windows, which illuminate the environment and allow a continuous use of the surrounding outdoor space
Architect Rino Cimmino restores the place, making it habitable, putting together all the pieces of history in harmony with the past
