The landscape is as impressive as it needs to be shaped by the experience through architecture so that you can enjoy only its positive aspects. This becomes a fundamental aspect of the project of the architectural firm Bokey Grant, along with the desire to give the DD House a garden that surrounded it and to which you had direct access. Thus the house on the ground floor turns its back on the neighbor to the east and, closing on itself, focuses on the inner experience

DD House on the Coal Coast in Australia, is located following the demolition of an old red brick complex used as a residence for the elderly, in one of the 6 plots created on top of a cliff overlooking the landscape
A solid wall on the ground floor of the DD House isolates it from the sight of the external car parks and from the sustained traffic of cars and passers-by, as well as the careful study of the levels of internal trampling and the parapets of the exterior. The design of the balcony on the first floor, for example, is the result of a series of protective intent: blocking the headlights of cars, protecting the privacy of customers, changing the views of the escarpment. The result is a sculptural object that is an integral part of the "sculpted" nature of the overall project
In DD House, there are intentionally different approaches to spatial design at each level. Upstairs the bedrooms and the bathrooms are deliberately introspective with small windows and carefully chosen outward views. On the lower floor, towards the private garden the openings are wider and designed to be enjoyed: the ground floor is designed as an open space: the various daytime living functions revolve around the central kitchen connected to the garden. The central unit of the kitchen deliberately allows a continuity between the ceiling and the floor and creates a division of space that balances the feeling of containment with privacy and the view to the outside
