Renovated apartment with dominant glass

Renovation of a house in Sydney. The glass creates visual richness and dynamism

Australian studio Bijl Architecture has chosen the glass element as the protagonist of the renovation of a house in Sydney, Australia, creating a greater connection between the spaces and facilitating the entry of natural light

The Doorzien House project renovates an old house giving space to a multilevel sensory design, made up of alternating full and empty spaces and panoramic views

The result is a house made up of interconnected spaces, while retaining their intimacy, open to the landscape, which creates an overall visual richness and dynamism

The glass is the fundamental element of the project: skylights, floors, balustrades, allowing the entry of natural light and opening onto the landscape

The dismantling of the existing floor in favour of the glass makes it possible to connect the two floors of the house, while the perimeter windows offer the occupants a view of Sydney Harbour

The opaque elements, the smooth walls, the rhythm of the steel beams, symbolize the pre-existence

The living spaces are oriented mainly to the back and not to the port: the internal views are opposed to the wide panoramic views
