Located in Saint-Adolphe-d'Howard, Quebec, Villa Estrade is composed of a series of animated volumes by MU Architecture that anchor, skirt and soar over the topographical irregularity. Their staggered and overlapping arrangement generates a multitude of terraces that embrace the site, creating a rich dialogue between architecture and wild landscape
Villa Estrade: a captivating spatial composition that adapts to a steep and rocky topography
The unique topography of the project, a sort of rocky ridge plunging into the lake, is enhanced in the project by MU Architecture through an eye-catching architectural intervention: a residence in total harmony with its environment
Villa Estrade gives life to long walls made of natural stones, which seem to rise from the ground and project onto the landscape. These long walls both generate and protect the ground floor apartments. In a discreet and intriguing way, the villa reveals itself slowly, room by room
A large recess under what seems to be a floating cube invites us to penetrate the place. From the entrance, an aerial and masterful staircase welcomes the visitor and winds through a vast luminous space, connecting all the levels in asymmetrical flights. Minimalism and attention to detail create a sense of purity and comfort that immediately sets the tone for the project
The large-scale, vernacular appearance of Villa Estrade combined with its materials witnesses an architectural writing that composes itself with its environment. This three-part composition, distributed on several levels, blends perfectly with nature, by following the seasons
