Mecanoo collaborates with North West Cambridge Development, transforming a 150 hectare agricultural site of the University of Cambridge into a residential community of 232 residential units, academic facilities, public services and green open spaces

The structure includes two internal courtyards with a lawn, flowers, fruit trees, street furniture, protected by galleries that form covered outdoor spaces. The apartments are grouped in large central rooms flooded with light, leading to the courtyards
The central building is a focal point, which serves as the backbone for the site. The volumes are compact and efficient, with high energy efficiency, good daylight performance inside, natural ventilation with cooling measures at night, remote heating, rainwater mitigation strategy and many other sustainable strategies
