WOWOWA Architects' redevelopment project for Modernist Wonderland consists of a playful adaptation of original materials and an embellishment of an "optimistic" era. The cramped spaces of the original are joined and freed of clutter with the aim of creating an area that can hold up to 80 people for family Christmas parties. In the kitchen, an island with a curved wooden base, a nod to the patrons' passion for lamb chops, pairs in contrast with the linear volume of the brass bar
Full colors and vast spaces to celebrate the joy of being with family. An architectural makeover brings Modernist Wonderland to life
Modernist Wonderland is a redevelopment to a cottage located in Victoria, a jewel of the 60s and property of a Greek-Australian family: a colorful celebration of the existing space and its liberation for better enjoyment

Each of the family's 3 children selected the color for their bedroom door, and the interior design was completed by inserting a rug of the corresponding hue. The bathroom is a feast of color; a curved ceiling extends out from the shower, and a pink skylight warms the space. The only addition of new architectural elements to the exterior is a north-facing walkway that lowers connecting the kitchen to the garden
Existing windows and new balustrades were painted with Dulux's "gold-pearl" hue to achieve an overall harmonizing effect. "Acropolis," a pale pink color from the same company, was used for its obvious Athenian value in a rush of cultural patriotism that is grafted instead into the suburb of Balywn, Victoria, Australia
