Among the elegant buildings dating back to the 18th century that stand proudly in the Parisian urban fabric, the hotel Nicolai welcomes the project of the architecture and interior design studio noa*. In Nicolai Paris, an apartment occupying part of the building's second floor and attic was renovated to create a home for a young family
At home while far away from home: Nicolai Paris
An apartment in the heart of Paris is chosen as the base of their life together by a young Italian family who emigrated abroad: the project of sensations, images and memories, in order to recreate as much as humanly possible the idea of home, is the exciting task entrusted to studio noa*
An intense dialogue with the client preceded any approach to the project: the main objective of Nicolai Paris is to tell a story, their story. The conclusion was to outline the clients with a "nomadic spirit" and, for those who define themselves as citizens of the world, the logarithmic spiral shell of Nautilus has a strong symbolic meaning
The shell, symbol of domestic comfort, was the starting point of the refined and timeless project, in which the different functions of living follow each other naturally and where the curved line becomes the stylistic code of the apartment
The choice of colors and furnishings are all inspired by the Parisian rooftops and the elegance of the neighborhood: the color of the blue-gray marble, the upholstery fabrics, the choice of materials, the colors of the floors. The ground floor features a service entrance and one dedicated to guests, the first in terrazzo and the second in bleached oak, laid in a herringbone pattern
The focal point of the design was the connection between the lower and upper floors: a sinuous staircase with an organic shape visually lengthens the walkway on the terrace. The result is an apartment with a serene, calm and welcoming atmosphere. An apartment with curved lines and the scent of wood, where you feel immediately at home
