A very minimal range of materials for an urban redevelopment project
North Perth House is an urban infill project in the centre of Perth that offers a variety of interior spaces determined by a simple structural arrangement
There are only two types of panels in the project: one for the ground floor, running east-west, parallel to the street, and one for the first floor, running north-south facing the city. The four panels on the ground floor support the four on the first floor and fit together like a grid, being fixed by gravity with some lateral bracing
The use of materials is deliberately limited: rough concrete for the heavy, laborious elements, wood for intimate moments and a translucent material to counteract the entry of the sun to the east and west and make the light soft and pleasant in the interior spaces
