Among the events organized by the University, probably the Promise event is the most important: a traveling meeting in which the UIC is urging to keep alive the bond created with the university community of which the students have been part in the last years of their careers.
To complement this event, but especially to make students understand the importance of the transition they face, Àgora Arquitectura designs the PRONAOS installation: a small transportable ephemeral intervention, which is both easy to assemble and long-lasting
PRONAOS, an installation symbolizing the exciting and maze-like transition from the academic to the professional dimension
With the completion of exams, the delivery of the last papers and the arrival of grades, students are about to leave the academic world and enter the world of work. For this transition, the International University of Catalonia has prepared some surprises. This is how PRONAOS was born

PRONAOS is a 3x3 meter platform built with 32 tiles of 40x80cm that rests on 6 concentric profiles built with 41 pine strips. 170 black rigid PVC pipes 3 meters high fit on the platform connecting the various components without the need for mechanical fixings. All materials used are reusable and environmentally friendly.
The installation is inspired by the pronaos of the Greek temple, an ancient, transitional vestibule, in this case a symbol of transition from the academic to the professional dimension
The difficulty of entering this new world to which the students aspire is metaphorically materialized in the present. Thus, at first, one approaches PRONAOS as a totally impenetrable object; the density of the columns and the traces of false paths contribute to this feeling. In a second moment, the analysis of the artifact, allows to reveal the entrance path. It is located in a corner, dilating the length of the threshold enabling to distinguish between the columns some floating words that recall the values learned during the years of training
The architecture proposed by Àgora, is slightly elevated from the ground, expressing the importance of the symbolic and emotional act for whoever observes what takes place inside its interior. The roof is not included, suggesting the use of light as an architectural element; light that is a necessary element to cross the threshold
