VTN architects is at the forefront of construction of small parks in the city, integrated with homes. The site for the Stepping Park House is in a new residential area of Ho Chi Minh City, with a park to the north. The greenery in question will be extended and integrated into the interior space of the house
Stepping Park House: the Vietnamese challenge of integrating greenery into architecture
Stepping Park House is one of the latest in a series of projects called "House for Trees", an initiative attempting to combat the shortage of green spaces in Vietnam by integrating greenery into small things and aiming to spread "green building" around the world
By cutting the volume through the three floors, a void is created which, on the ground floor, serves as a living room, and is open to the park. The façade surrounding the void is covered with ivy, giving the viewer a feeling of continuity with the park. The void incorporates both circulation elements and natural elements such as trees and plants
The void that opens diagonally upwards brings natural ventilation through the house, thanks to the chimney effect. In this way the use of air conditioners is reduced to a minimum. As you walk through the space, you will feel the wind move from the living room to the top floor of the house. The green façade softens the intense sun of the tropical climate and the model becomes a precedent for housing in tropical climates
