Boutique Hotel among the vineyards in Mexico. Cement and stone create volumes other than the hills of the landscape

The ASP Studio designs a set of buildings in San Miguel de Allende, one of Mexico's main tourist sites, including a Boutique Hotel and various residences. The volumes of the structures are modelled among the hills and vineyards, through concrete platforms and stone walls with geometric lines

San Miguel de Allende is one of the main tourist sites in Mexico, whose economy is based on wine activities that have enabled significant economic growth. In recent years the presence of breathtaking architecture in the region has also attracted even more visitors. It is in this context that ASP was offered the opportunity to engage in a project to develop a multi-purpose complex in a place characterized by a small hill

The project consists of a master plan divided into private properties from 6,000 to 8,000 m², plus 87 hectares of vineyards and buildings for public recreation and relaxation. Public areas include a Boutique Hotel, a Wellness Centre, a Club House, a Restaurant, an Equestrian Club and numerous sports fields

The intention of the project was to develop an aesthetic to integrate the architecture with the existing elements. ASP has achieved this vision by integrating each volume into the landscape, using horizontal concrete and stone platforms to prevent vision within each space. The materials used, including stone, wood, earth and gravel act as unifying elements thanks to their neutral colour scheme

The complex also houses an orchard that provides fresh produce for the restaurant. The vineyards are irrigated thanks to a drip irrigation system, provided by two existing wells. As part of the Boutique Hotel, an artificial lake has been designed, which generates a unique microclimate favouring the landscape
