The Daylight Dyke House, designed by Mirck Architecture, is an elegant residential structure that is seamlessly integrated into its natural surroundings. The materials that characterize it—concrete, glass, and corten—create a balanced blend of solidity, transparency, warmth, and color. Inside, the strategically placed openings for natural light give the sensation of being at the center of the natural spectacle unfolding outdoors
Daylight Dyke House, elegant and contemporary, melds with the Dutch landscape
Daylight Dyke House in Green Heart, Netherlands, is a countryside home that is not merely situated on top of a dike but is an integral part of it, offering panoramic views of the trees, polders, and ditches that crisscross the meadows and the natural reserve that extends around it

Various ingenious technological solutions control the inflow of light and heat within the home. In the evening, a more intimate and protected atmosphere can be created thanks to the curtains. Smooth concrete is used for the finishing of the floors and the staircase that leads to the semi-basement. Here, unexpected openings reveal the sky, and the light coming from above gives a unique sensation of being in an underwater environment
The color scheme is simple, almost austere: white, gray, black, and the light oak of the kitchen cabinets. These are complemented by antique Chinese wooden doors leading into the master bedroom, adding a personal touch
The garden was designed by Dutch landscape architect Piet Oudolf and connects the house to its surroundings and vice versa. The external buildings, with their black Shou Sugi Ban wood cladding, organically blend into both the house and the garden
