ilbox: the new design object that enhances good wine

From the search for a beautiful and functional alternative that can enhance the convivial experience of a good glass of wine, arises a design object that serves as an aesthetically appealing container, an eco-friendly and functional wine dispenser.

An idea born at the table

The idea was born during a dinner at the Martino's house. While Mr. Martino poured the wine from his bag in box, he pointed out to one of the guests, the architect Giuseppe Sessa, that the appearance of the container was so unappealing that it gave the impression of containing low-quality wine. Thus, a discussion centered on wine and design objects began.

The issues with current containers

Reflecting on the currently available containers, it is evident that cardboard tends to deteriorate easily, get dirty, and is difficult to dispose of properly. Additionally, the box is made up of different materials: cardboard for the casing, plastic for the handle and spout, and aluminum for the liquid pouch. This variety of materials requires the user to separate them for proper recycling, with the risk of making mistakes and ending up throwing everything in mixed waste.

Another drawback is that the cardboard box is often single-use, and at most can be reused once before being replaced. Being rigid, it also takes up more space compared to containers that can be assembled and stacked.

Hygienic and practical flaws of bag in box

We have noticed that the bag in box products on the market are cardboard parallelepipeds, not very pleasant to look at, easily deteriorate with use, become dirty, and cannot be washed. Due to the cardboard material, they deform in the area where the tap is located, resulting in tears that force the user to replace them quickly.

The question that sparked innovation

During the conversation, Mr. Martino asked the designer: "Could you create an innovative bag in box that improves upon what already exists in the market?". His response was: "the box".

Features of the new container

The new liquid container stands out from existing models due to its innovative design, the bag insertion system, and the use of recyclable materials. It is washable and hygienic, as it can be placed in the dishwasher. Additionally, it is stackable and, once purchased, lasts much longer compared to cardboard models that require frequent replacement.

An innovative design

"The box" has an innovative geometric shape, a truncated cone that sets it apart from traditional containers. It is not made of a single piece, but of two valves joined by a pin that allows rotation to insert the liquid bag. The pin is also made of the same material as the valves, simplifying disposal at the end of the product's life, avoiding material separation.

Customization and practicality

The container is customizable, available in different versions: LED illuminated, refrigerated, or with a pedestal. The pedestal lifts the box from the support surface, making it easier to access the tap to pour the wine without having to lift it.

A functional furnishing accessory

For the first time, the bag in box becomes a furnishing element with aesthetic dignity. Its unique and distinctive design, with carefully crafted details like the central rib in the shape of a "V", makes it a piece that should not be hidden in the pantry but proudly displayed. The rib also acts as a stop between the valves and incorporates the release button for opening.

Patent and Future Developments

As of today, ilbox has obtained the Italian patent, and Martino&Co. is working to also obtain European and international patents. This innovative container is not only functional but also a distinctive mark in the world of design and liquid containers.
