A sensory immersion between myth and transience
In the evocative setting of the new center for art and culture in Bergamo, Gres Art, from September 14, 2024, until February 2025, an exhibition opens that promises to touch the deepest chords of the human soul. Greatness, solitude, myth, and the transience of the human being are the central themes of this exhibition curated by Marina Abramović, one of the most influential and provocative artists of our time.
The journey begins with the cinematic installation Seven Deaths, a powerful and moving work dedicated to the legendary soprano Maria Callas. In this installation, Abramović intertwines her inner world with that of the Divine, creating a dialogue between visual and sound art that is breathtaking. Seven premature deaths are depicted on the screen, each accompanied by one of Callas's famous arias, transforming the experience into an almost mystical ritual. Abramović's fascination with opera and Maria Callas, born during her adolescence in Belgrade, finds one of its most mature and profound expressions here.
