025 Concrete Home. Sincerity of the material and essentiality of forms

In the city of Vilnius, Lithuania, the 025 Concrete Home is a single-family house made of prefabricated reinforced concrete panels assembled on site. Its compact volume and clean geometry make it suitable for harmonious integration among future constructions in the developing neighborhood

A square of 18 meters per side

025 Concrete Home is one of the latest residential architecture projects by the Lithuanian studio ŠA Atelier. It spans an area of 215 square meters, occupying a square area of 18 meters per side. The simple shape of the building is due to the unpredictable architectural future of the neighborhood, with which a satisfying formal dialogue is desired, and to the client's need to have the house on a single level

Construction technique using prefabricated reinforced concrete panels

The essential cement parallelepiped is placed in the flat part of the lot and includes within its perimeter both the actual rooms of the house, the entrance porch, the terrace, and the garage. This way, the exterior becomes an integral part of the interior. Choosing the construction technique of on-site assembly of prefabricated reinforced concrete panels with three layers required meticulous design of the pieces and engineering phases. The construction elements were designed based on the transport means' capacity and assembled with interlocking joints

Finishes and internal distribution

The design choice of an essential and sincere architecture is also reflected in the finishes. Concrete is left exposed both externally and internally. The non-structural internal partitions feature a finish in plywood panels, revealing the difference with the load-bearing ones. The house features a spacious living area with four large openings towards the garden, housing the kitchen with a dramatic metal table/worktop, the dining area, and the living room; a second, connected but slightly separate living room also serves as a study. The sleeping area has two single bedrooms and one double bedroom, served by three bathrooms
