Bridge House, multifaceted volumes for a Villa in Minorca

In Coves Noves, on the northeast coast of Menorca, you will find Bridge House. Its volumes, based on the assembly of square and pentagonal plants, rotate creating incredible interiors and views that are never repeated

A project inspired by the landscape

The house, designed by Nomo Studio, develops horizontally, taking advantage of the terrain's conformation to embrace the best views of the surrounding landscape. Its articulated surface allows for the creation of small polyhedral volumes that, when aggregated, give life to a dynamic and original composition. The ensemble of volumes forms a suspended bridge that gives the house its name. To respect the existing nature as much as possible, the internal distribution was designed by dividing the house into different functional units, integrated with the context and capable of interacting with the natural topography.

Large porch as the heart of the house

The terraces and the pool have been designed as a natural extension of the indoor spaces, following the same broken and fluid geometries of the architectural composition. The house, designed as a summer residence, has in the large porch located under the suspended volumes its pulsating center. This outdoor space, equipped with a small outdoor kitchen and overlooking the garden and the pool, represents the heart of social and family life, from which one can simultaneously contemplate the view of the sea and that of the surrounding forest.

Fluid and Functional Distribution

On the first floor, there is a second porch, directly connected to the main kitchen, designed for daily use. Here, the living room, dining room, and five bedrooms are located, one of which is housed in an independent pavilion for guests. The master bedroom, located near the living area, is organized as a small autonomous unit, similar to a private apartment within the house, ensuring comfort and privacy.

Light, Matter, and Local Tradition

The remaining bedrooms are located on the ground floor, with direct access to the garden and pool area, creating a constant relationship between interior and exterior. The bathrooms have been designed as open and bright spaces, with large full-height windows that offer expansive views of the greenery. The external facade, completely white, is a clear reference to the Menorcan architectural tradition, characterized by continuous walls and sloping roofs that come together in a single white veil capable of reflecting light and integrating with the Mediterranean landscape.
