The Belgian studio dmvA architecten designs "Cabin Y", a sustainable, economical and self-sufficient mobile home, made of white oiled pine wood in the interior and burnt larch wood in the exterior cladding

The idea of a mobile residence was already developed in a previous project by the same studio, which wanted to design sustainable and flexible architectures that could be assembled on the outskirts of cities and villages

Cabin Y is composed of a volume that covers 6 meters in length and 2.4 in width, for a height of 3.4 meters, thus being easily transportable. The construction principle consists of ten wooden porches connected by X-shaped stainless steel tension cables

There is a hemp fiber thermal insulation between the sandwich panels. The exterior cladding is made of burnt larch wood, burning wood is a natural way to make wood sustainable without the use of chemicals, while the interior is made of white oiled pine

The cabin is equipped with a toilet, shower and duplex beds. Thanks to photovoltaic solar panels on the roof, the living unit is supplied with continuous renewable energy. The front façade is completely made of glass, with a hinged steel frame
