The land on which TAM Arquitectura studio is commissioned to design House 388 is located in a circular cul de sac, a 1350-meter portion of a circle with a steep slope that faces directly onto a small square and opens to the north towards a large green space
House 388 where the functions of living are free and interconnected: staying and moving, inside and outside
A horizontal plane suspended over a sharply sloping terrain defines the space in which House 388 is located in Mar del Plata, Argentina: an architecture of fluid volumes that delineate the various functions of living
The project's objective is to capture this lush green space: the large horizontal plane of the building extends, traps the exterior, and makes it its own. A stone base protects the multifunctional space from the street, and above this, beneath the large roof, a free-plan level opens up with social functions. Thanks to the slope of the plot, this floor overlooks the street, and at the back, it directly faces the garden level
On the other side of the plot, the volume that contains the sleeping area partially covers the parking spaces, shelters under the large roof, and together overlooks the street. In cross-section, spaces are linked and related, creating diagonals that break into the villa's rectangular volumes
The voids and solids are captured by the black plane of the roof. Added to this composition is the garden terrace which connects to the carpentry of the living area and, due to its inclination, protects privacy and directs the gaze towards the sky. The multiplicity of spatial configurations was the premise of this work, as was connecting to the natural context. The result is a dynamic and stimulating space protected by the visual continuity of the residential neighborhoods
