Tasting wine in the cellar, the new COR Cellars room in Columbia

In the heart of the Columbia Gorge, in the United States, amidst breathtaking views of sculpted mountains, an old existing shed that housed the Winery is joined by a new structure that welcomes visitors for tastings of their own production wines: the COR Cellars room.

The dehors that celebrates conviviality and protects

COR Cellars designed by goCstudio is located on a plot that extends for a total of 5200 square feet, and is exposed to constant winds coming from the west. Hence the idea of creating a central courtyard that could be considered the beating heart of the project: partly organizing the spaces and partly protecting workers and visitors from typical environmental conditions.

Interior and exterior

The creators of the structure, specialized in architecture projects for bars and commercial spaces, emphasize the courtyard which becomes the focal point of the cellar visits and the new tasting room. The building faces north and south, opening up to the landscape and the magnificent views of Mount Hood. Between the tasting room and the courtyard, there are large glass accordion doors that create a direct connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Wine Tasting with a View

Above the bar in the tasting room are skylights illuminating the focal point of the activities. On the roof there is a terrace that offers a unique view of the Columbia River and Mount Hood. The exterior color palette, rather dark, allows the building to blend in seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, unlike the interior colors, characterized by lighter tones.
