With a view to creating dwellings that stand out for their aesthetic and energy quality, the architectural and interior design studio Mango design, led by owner Architect Manuel Knycz, is involved in the redevelopment of what will become the Dimora Rio Maggiore
Rio Maggiore Mansion. Colors and shapes for an innovative architecture-nature dialogue
In the center of Levico Terme, in the province of Trento, Dimora Rio Maggiore was born from the renovation of an existing building from the first half of the 20th century. An intervention that is part of a design path whose basic idea is to connote with features attentive to the quality of life the planned interventions on an entire area with residential destination

On the first three floors of the building the existing apartments are redeveloped, while on the fourth and last floor the attic has been recovered for living purposes by demolishing the pitched roof and perimeter walls: now a panoramic terrace for the exclusive use of the penthouse dominates the panorama of Levico and its lake. Heat pumps powered by the photovoltaic system installed on part of the new flat roofing, and differentiated insulation for the various types of envelope (stone masonry of the first three floors insulated with EPS coat added with graphite, perimeter walls and roofing made from scratch in Xlam insulated with wood fiber) constitute the energy upgrading intervention
The peculiarity of the intervention on the Dimora Rio Maggiore is the "project within the project": Mango design together with Alphacan created MY DESIGN, the world's first fully customizable PVC film to be applied on the windows and doors. A film covers the Dimora's windows and doors from both the inside and the outside, making the finish unique and exclusive. On the inside, a modern finish is used that breaks away from PVC and enhances it with the textural and aesthetic effect of bleached laminated wood. Externally, a film with a gray "micaceous iron" finish matches the colors adopted for shaving coats on the facades
Manifesting the project's philosophy of wanting to create an innovative dialogue between architecture and nature, the colors and shapes of the Rio Maggiore Mansion want to relate to the context that hosts it. They do so with a graphic play that on the parapets of the balconies creates contrast with its geometric lines and on those of the terraces makes peace with a texture that re-proposes the stylized shadow of the enormous cedar tree that stands there beside
