The idea of the owner of the Schönblick restaurant was to expand the offer with a high-level hotel service that would enhance the uniqueness of the place.
The architects opted for the unusual solution of an underground construction: the architecture was eliminated to allow a continuous view of the natural scenery.
For noa*, the hospitality theme is expressed in a continuous search for dialogue with nature and lets nature play the leading role
From the depths of the earth: in the new Gfell hotel the thrill of living in nature
The noa* project in Fiè allo Sciliar was developed underground in the mountains and impressed guests with its spectacular view: "There is nothing in front of it, just pine forests, pastures and mountains"

17 new rooms are distributed over two basement floors and complemented by a wellness area with a sauna and relaxation zone. Most of the furnishings are custom-designed and the interiors have been designed with attention to every detail and focus on natural materials to create a relaxing atmosphere: the darker oak wood is complemented by neutral tones in the thickly textured raw fibre coverings
The new spaces are accessed through an old barn which has been carefully restored to its original appearance on the outside, while the interior impresses visitors: a single large open space contains the reception, lounge and breakfast room.
The large wooden truss under which the spaces are fluidly articulated has been reconstructed according to local tradition to restore the atmosphere of a typical South Tyrolean farmhouse
The simple, rough concrete floor is a reference to the ancient role of the place; at the centre of the space, a spectacular column-shaped fireplace reinterprets the Alpine fireplace and creates a visual focus around which the various functional spaces revolve; wooden sunshades reduce sunlight during the hottest hours of the day, creating an aesthetically pleasing solution
