Dialogue between stone, wood, and minimalism in House Renovation, Alt Pirineu

Hiha Studio transforms a cabin in the Pyrenees into a modern and cozy home: stone, raw wood, and minimalist furnishings create spaces on three levels, where contemporary design intertwines with the ancient essence of the original structure, in a harmonious dialogue

An ancient refuge comes back to life in the Pyrenees

Hiha Studio signs one of its most fascinating renovation projects, transforming a historic mountain hut in the Pyrenees into a modern and welcoming home. Starting from the original stone masonry structure, the studio redefined the interior spaces on three functional levels, creating a dialogue between contemporary design and the ancient soul of the building. The hut, positioned directly on the rock, maintains its connection with the surrounding natural landscape, making it a unique refuge that combines history and innovation.

Stone and wood: a timeless combination

The renovation highlights the authenticity of traditional materials, with the dark stone walls contrasting with the warmth of wood. The latter has been chosen for the floors, beams, and especially for the central staircase, which connects the three levels of the house. This staircase, while evoking the traditional use of raw wood, stands out for its modern and refined line, creating a focal point that unites the different functional areas. The choice to preserve and enhance these materials creates a welcoming and timeless atmosphere, maintaining a strong connection with mountain tradition.

Minimalism that enhances the structure

The interiors reflect a minimalist approach that respects the history of the house. The furnishings, few and essential, almost seem to make room for the identity of the stone and wood structure. The stove, positioned in the center, becomes a symbolic element of warmth and conviviality, while the kitchen, with its clean lines and white finishes, integrates perfectly into the environment. Particular emphasis is given to the kitchen corner, where the gray ceramic frames the space, creating a visual contrast that enhances the essential nature of the project. The entire intervention highlights a harmonious balance between functionality and architectural poetry.
