This beloved neighborhood restaurant, which has captured the hearts of many in Jumeirah, now has a new look and a new location, ready to offer an engaging gastronomic experience.
Origami Sushi made its debut in 2014, bringing a breath of fresh air to Dubai's sushi scene. With an innovative approach and a dedication to quality, it quickly became a go-to spot for sushi lovers. Now, with the opening of its new branch at The Dubai Mall, Origami has further elevated its offering, combining excellent cuisine with a visually striking architectural design.
The new design of Origami Sushi has been curated by the renowned studio VSHD Design, based in Dubai. The interiors of the space captivate with their simplicity and minimalism, inspired by Japanese tradition. Simple shapes, natural materials, and organic forms blend together to create an environment that reflects the philosophy of wabi-sabi, the beauty of humble simplicity.
Origami architecture is a wonder to discover among the interior design projects. The structure, resembling a temple, is covered with a dense texture of gray clay that enhances its earthy character. The walls, with their interplay of light and shadow, create an atmosphere reminiscent of old Japanese underground sushi bars. Soft lighting adds a touch of mystery and intrigue, transporting guests on a unique sensory journey.
The entrance of Origami has been designed to be an experience in itself. Visitors pass through thick rectangular columns six meters high, entering a space that exudes a sense of secrecy. This transitional space, between the lively mall corridor and the quiet dining room, prepares guests for a moment of escape and contemplation.
Inside, the restaurant stands out for its intimate and welcoming atmosphere. Matte black tiles, draped seating, and structured glass dividers all contribute to creating an authentic culinary experience. The main dining room offers a variety of seating options on two levels, with built-in seating along the perimeter of the space that can be rearranged as desired.
The second level of the restaurant features a sushi bar with a light box, where diners can watch the sushi masters at work. This direct interaction adds an element of transparency and authenticity, making the culinary experience even more special.
