In the coastal city of Cesme, large curved geometries that blend with the terrain multiply the space available at the Tetusa Oasis Thermal Resort, creating a new natural landscape

The thermal resort and functional program of Tetusa Oasis

Cesme is a tourist destination with a well-established focus on wellness, thanks to its thermal waters. The Tetusa Oasis Thermal Resort is part of the city's tourism portfolio, enriching it with its diverse functional program: among other services, there is a new spa, a water park, a hotel, a medical center, and a facility for the elderly. It is challenging to find space for all these functions in the chosen lot for the project

Design of the circular block thermal spa

Given the size of the plot and the extensive program of functions of the Tetusa Oasis Thermal Resort, the challenge for the ENOTA studio, in charge of the project, was to find a way to multiply the available space. The invention of circular-shaped architectures masterfully solves the problem: the design is based on large cylindrical constructions hollowed out inside, thus creating the planted oases that give the thermal spa its name. The ground level in the oases is lowered, allowing for the creation of extensively illuminated basement floors with natural light

Oases and green rooftops reshape the landscape

The architecture of the thermal center is defined by these circular and semicircular structures, each of which includes a specific function oasis within. Another fundamental compositional characteristic of the Tetusa Oasis Thermal Resort is its almost total fusion with the landscape, achieved through the three-dimensional modeling of the volumes: the roofs of the hollow cylinders that make up the buildings are not flat but follow an organic/hilly pattern. Furthermore, being treated as green roofs and connected to each other or to ground level, they create a natural and strongly defining design that is excellently integrated
