Two separate spaces, previously used as a Jiu Jitsu room and a beauty salon, have been completely renovated and now accommodate Spacial's first offices. Ivy Studio designed the spaces, creating a space with a modern flair

Ivy Studio's design for this new co-working space in Montreal consisted of creating a flexible workspace for 120 people, including offices of different sizes and a variety of communal and collaboration spaces. Despite its large area, the existing space did not have a large amount of natural light due to its depth. It was therefore a challenge to create a pleasant working environment

The first section welcomes visitors with the reception office and several work rooms, three conference rooms and a bench. Separated by the central staircase, the second section includes the kitchen area, a large dining room and private cabins ideal for smaller work groups. These two spaces are designed to offer a variety of options for a more casual type of work or group meetings. Behind the reception desk, a glass brick wall separates the public space from private rental offices

Given the distance separating them from the front glass façade, it was critical to illuminate these rooms with more artificial light. A total of 20 skylights were added in the corridors surrounding this volume to bring maximum natural light near the work spaces. The skylights and artificial lights combined bring in so much light that it feels like working in an interior courtyard

At the entrance, the reception desk occupies the front of the stage with its colorful zinc cladding. Beneath the glass brick openings, a long burgundy bench runs the length of the wall and complements a large plant container behind the seating. All of the furniture in the common space is black, contrasting with the pale gray of the terrazzo on the floor

In the conference rooms, televisions are hidden in front of huge circular black backlit mirrors that highlight the white painted brick. Two similar large blue mirrors are installed back-to-back on the central brick wall, creating landmarks visible everywhere through the project
