Villa Bakkum, a tripod with its legs spread out in the landscape

The villa in the wooded area of Bakkum resembles the shape of a tripod, whose legs immersed in the landscape each contain a different function: a living area, a dining area, and a work area.

Perfect balance between form and function

Villa and landscape intertwine in a perfect balance between form and function. Moke Architecten has created one of its most fascinating architectural projects, designing a building where a central triangular room acts as the focal point, projecting three wings into the landscape that harmoniously blend with the surrounding nature. This design maximizes the connection with the environment, transforming the villa into a natural extension of the landscape. The wings of the building, characterized by relief brick cladding, house different functions, ensuring optimal spatial distribution and clear separation between different areas of the residence. In every room of the villa, the presence of the wooded landscape is felt, thanks to the large panoramic windows that make the surrounding forest area tangible. By opening the large sliding doors at the back, the wooded landscape transforms into a landscape room, a dynamic element that becomes an integral part of the house.

A dynamic covering that gives lightness

The wings of the villa are designed with a particular configuration of the gable roof, which has a lower height at the ends, progressively increasing towards the central hall. This architectural detail gives the building a sense of movement and lightness, emphasizing the centrality of the living core. The choice of materials further contributes to the dynamic character of the villa: the outer wall facing the woods is made of Meranti wood, a material that integrates perfectly with the natural surroundings, while the other facades are clad in brick with a strong horizontal relief.

Architecture in constant evolution

Thanks to the staggered arrangement of the bricks and the irregular notching at the corners of the facade, the villa changes its “expression” throughout the day, adapting to variations in light and creating a constantly changing visual effect. This particular detail not only enhances the building's design but also gives a dynamic and mutable quality to the structure, making it an integral part of the surrounding environment. The fusion of natural materials and architectural forms allows the villa to visually evolve throughout the day, offering a constantly new and engaging living experience.
