The shared spaces are the centerpiece of the building and are easily accessible to all.
The building is accessed through a courtyard in a large double-height corridor filled with Verdi plants. This is also where you will find a dining area, workshops, rooms and a lounge. It is all built of fir wood with hemp insulation creating a warm and calm atmosphere
An amphitheater signals the beginning of an open stairwell and galleries leading to the apartments and farther to the library and rooftop greenhouse. The sequence of rooms is designed to create visual connections between spaces and people and to provide freedom of choice about when and how much to engage in community life
Residents - owners of the apartments - were involved in the planning and development process. This pilot project is based on the Gaining by sharing model. By sharing resources, whether it is time, space or goods, it results in a more sustainable way of living: environmentally, but also socially, economically and architecturally
