Bogen, the flowery bistro between historical heritage and contemporary finesse

Romantic Rebirth: noa*'s restoration project of the Bogen bistro

The Mayr family, current owners of the property, entrusted the noa* - network of architecture studio with the task of restoring the historic part of the building and designing its new purpose: the Bogen bistro. When conceiving the interior of the venue, the focus was on the four arches that, on both sides, mark the nearly 19 meters of depth of the space. With the clients' desire to create a romantic and bohemian atmosphere, along with the craftsmanship of Roswitha Mayr, the homeowner, who wanted to give a personal touch to the ambiance, noa* shaped the design around these distinctive elements.

A floral explosion: the vibrant heart of the bistro

In the central space, a cozy 7-meter long counter, surrounded by a ceiling adorned with flower baskets, becomes the distinctive element of the interiors. This "flowered vault" emerges as the focal point of the interior design, with overturned baskets hosting dried flowers, symbolizing beauty and transience. The intimate atmosphere of the tables, protected by arches and overlooking the external alley, creates an engaging contrast with the shared space of the counter.

A refuge of intimacy: the harmony between past and present

Between the first pair of arches, an elegant solution of fabric with floral print on the walls, combined with seats recessed into the wall, creates an atmosphere of intimacy and sophistication. This same approach has also been adopted for the niche that closes the space of the room. In the constant dialogue between past and present, the noa* chairs skillfully combine modern pieces in wood and fabric with repainted vintage chairs, adding a touch of character and history to the design.

Harmony in the details: lighting and materials for a welcoming entrance

The entrance welcomes visitors with a platform made of oak wood that solves the existing internal height difference. For the flooring, a gray-beige screed is chosen to harmonize with the surrounding walls. Lighting plays a fundamental role, with spotlights accentuating the curves of the arches and providing focused illumination on the tables. The atmosphere is completed with floor lamps, ensuring uniform and welcoming lighting throughout the space, except for the two tables at the end.

Merging functionality and aesthetics: innovation in services The service areas of the bistro include a completely renovated kitchen, located at the back of the premises, and the bathrooms, both integrated into a space that transforms into a unique piece of furniture. A perfect prism made of perforated metal sheet, with the same floral motif as the arches, combines the aesthetics of the venue with the technical needs of acoustics. The soundproof panels, hidden beneath the metal surface, ensure a comfortable environment without compromising the style of the overall design.
