"When the moon makes your eyes widen like a big pizza... that's Amore," as Dean Martin sang. And from there, architect Emanuele Svetti embarked on an aesthetic and functional quest to bring Pizza Legend to life. It is a new, unconventional environment where the presence of surreal elements, evoking dreamlike dimensions, could blend with a play of two-dimensional geometries. The black and white surfaces are literally "torn apart" by the unexpected arrival of an Iron Giant, peering from the ceiling in an unprecedented perspective
Pizza Legend: A neapolitan pizzeria Envisioned on Mars
As we all know, pizza is no longer just a dish; it is a phenomenon, a universal one that involves everyone. It has become a global dish, a legend. And so, Pizza Legend becomes the slogan of the San Lazzaro pizzeria in Cortona, Tuscany. The establishment is cozy, compact, and unique, far from the stereotypical pizzeria. It is imbued with a strong, playful, and elegant style
"This is the first time I've tackled the pizzeria theme," declares the architect, "and this is a Neapolitan pizzeria designed on Mars." With irreverent irony, Emanuele Svetti seeks a new format, and with the slogan Pizza Legend, he wants to celebrate the Italian status symbol that is pizza. This is achieved by maximizing the functionality of this commercial space: 95 square meters on a single floor, from which thirty seats are derived, allowing the proprietor to tell their legend effectively
It is a work of "high space tailoring" carried out shoulder to shoulder with the pizza makers, seeking the best possible spatial optimization and creating a harmonious compromise between style and functionality. A ceramic tile that creates geometric patterns, alternating with black and white wall enamel, along with unconventionally applied wallpaper on the ceiling, serve as the decorative elements in this unique intervention. As soon as the customer enters the premises, they are greeted by a curious robot that emerges through a tear in the ceiling, offering a glimpse of the Cortona skyline
