ONA - Oficina Nómada de Arquitectura's design for the DCA Building showcases a continuity of facades in line with the pre-existing structures of the block. In this way, a morphology respectful of the adjacent urban environment is achieved. The building consists of an open ground floor designated for parking and a patio with green areas. Through a central staircase, access is provided to two apartments, one on each floor
DCA Building: Between urban camouflage and aesthetic and functional innovation
The DCA residential building is situated on a plot of just 105 square meters in one of the most traditional residential areas of Mendoza city, Argentina. Here, the predominant urban environment consists of buildings from the 1960s and 1970s and the General San Martín Park, the city's largest green lung

On the top floor, there's a shared terrace, equipped with a barbecue grill (churrasquera), a jacuzzi, and spaces designed for social gatherings and the contemplation of the urban landscape. The materials chosen by ONA for both the structure and the external cladding are exposed reinforced concrete and glass. For the interior finishes, masonry walls and lightweight walls painted in white are used
As protection from the sun and for privacy, a system of metallic sunshades is placed on the facades: interactive skins with horizontal strips, both movable and fixed, that create visual dynamism, both for the inhabitants and for those observing the project from the outside
Given the limited land area, there's a proposal to create a courtyard where trees can be planted. Additionally, on the landings of each level, a series of suspended planters with xerophytic vegetation are accessible from the rooms of each apartment. It's a design choice that allows for visual contact with nature from within the units
