Redefining bakery layout with dining room inspiration. El horno de Babette- a new "around the table" concept

The design of El Horno de Babette bakeries disrupts the conventional spatial layouts found in bakeries, where hierarchy and clear divisions separate the public space from the private one. . The "around the table" concept draws inspiration from a dining room setup, where the table becomes the central element of the space

The interior design project of the bakeries by Zooco Studio is based on the placement of an imposing table in the middle, showcasing the variety of offered products. This approach allows customers to freely explore the store, getting a better understanding of the available goods. This is a place where customers can comfortably pause, observe, and make purchasing decisions

At Babette's store on 16 Orellana Street, once again, the central focus is a wooden table, where baked goods are displayed. The walls are designed with metal partitions that incorporate the other exhibition and work surfaces of the bakery. The finishes embrace an industrial aesthetic, incorporating materials such as metal profiles, micro-cement, terracotta, and glass, while maintaining wood as a common element that characterizes all of the bakeries. The cozy atmosphere in the store is achieved through warm lighting, which softens the raw industrial character of the interior

At Babette's store on Paseo de la Habana 52, the same concept was proposed in a space such as a kitchen. At its center is a round wooden table placed on a carpet of ceramic tiling, which is the dominant material of the bakery's interior finish. The walls are adorned with ceramic tiles of varying sizes, while the floor is covered in micro-cement. The upper parts of the walls and the ceiling are finished using sprayed cement. To further illuminate the space and create a sense of spaciousness, the cabinet doors and the central leg of the table are clad in mirrors
